Helen Flunder has played piano since the age of 4. She began with piano lessons, following grades whilst developing her love of composing and songwriting alongside the more formal route. She qualified as a primary teacher with a B.Ed in 1986 and shared her love of music with the pupils she taught. Helen also plays other instruments including piano accordion and has written, recorded cds and performed music and songs for a very varied list of folk groups, orchestras, bands, weddings, concerts, hotels. In 2013 she fulfilled a lifelong dream, leaving teaching and becoming a professional musician. She teaches piano, focusing on music for fun, gigs and does music singalong sessions which have very popular and therapeutic results in residential homes and other groups. Helen's musical influences include Chopin, Bach, Queen, folk, Meatloaf and songwriters such as Boo Hewerdine and Martyn Joseph… Genre is sort of folky, classical, bluesy, soundtracky with an occasional proggy burst!
