For anyone that hasn't heard of Gridcoin, It's a cryptocurrency which securely rewards BOINC computation (attempting to solve cancer/aids/ebola/malaria/zika, mapping the milkyway, searching for extraterrestrial life, etc) on top of the Proof of Stake consensus mechanism.
