After many years as a drummer back in the 70s and 80s I fell out of love with contemporary music in the 90s, listening mostly to classical music. I had dabbled in the Acid House scene in the late 80s and early 90s, however after being forced to don a suit in order to try and forge a career, I had to pretty much leave music behind for a while.
In 1996, however, I happened to chance on a Dance music radio station during a late-night drive back to London from Sheffield and Fluke's 'Atom Bomb' made me realise everything had changed. I'm as in love with Dance and Electronica now as I was the day I went out and bought 'Oto'.
I create varied albeit predominantly house-based mixes and, having cut my teeth on belt drives back in the day, and then progressed to Technics 1210 Mk2s, Pioneer CDJ 800 Mk2s and a Pioneer DDJ-T1 controller using Traktor Pro, I am now using a Pioneer XDJ-RX2 and Rekordbox although I'm also keen to produce my own music as well. That's on my to-do list for 2024 and on.
