For what feels like an eternity, I have observed the Suggestions with quiet amusement. It is rather fascinating how consistently certain laws of nature seem to assert themselves: applaud one another long enough and, sooner or later, one inevitably ends up recommending one another. A remarkably self-sustaining ecosystem. Almost worthy of academic study.

Equally entertaining is the unspoken conviction that such mutual admiration might eventually lead to musical immortality. Reality, rather regrettably, has shown itself to be somewhat less cooperative.

Fortunately, there are still people who actually listen to music instead of distributing it according to social strategy. People who are guided by taste rather than networking, reciprocal favours or carefully cultivated alliances. Their company is infinitely more rewarding.

My own rather small and discerning circle suits me perfectly. I genuinely enjoy their music and, quite evidently, they enjoy mine. There is something refreshingly authentic about that. Positively suspicious, in an environment where some playlists appear to contain considerably more politics than music.

The rest? Pleasant background scenery. Mixcloud remains a platform, not an alternate universe where likes substitute for oxygen or Suggestions somehow translate into tangible achievement.

In any case, I wish everyone the very best with the ongoing exercise in mutual elevation. I'll simply continue listening to music... 🎶 😉
