Swing dance, also known as lindy hop or jitterbug developed from jazz dance and charleston in the 1920s. it reached its height of popularity in the 1930s and '40s with the likes of Frankie Manning, Norma Miller, Al Minns and Dean Collins. Originally danced to big bands and jazz, nowadays lindyhoppers have embraced electro swing and all styles of music.
