A lifelong musician, doctor, philanthropist and traveler, Dr. George Freundlich has been a performing musician since he was a child.
George played trombone in the award winning Timmins Symphony Orchestra and both trombone and saxophone in the Timmins All Star Big Band. In 1997, George became a member of the Board of Directors of Orchestras Canada. He retired from the Timmins Symphony Orchestra in 2019.
In 1973, while still a music student in Romania, George Freundlich was selected to perform with the Romanian Youth Orchestra in Aberdeen, Scotland at the inaugural “International Festival of Youth Orchestras.” There he was selected for the World’s Youth Orchestra, performing several concerts in London. Exactly 30 years later, in 2003, George led the Canadian Youth Orchestra to the same festival and was a red carpet guest.
George also fosters new talent through scholarships given to outstanding young classical musicians in Canada.
