GQwn's relationship with music started at an early age, when she trained in various musical instruments and opera, winning national awards in China in her teenage years.
Feeling the pressure to conform to societal norms and the lack of creativie spirit in her music environment in Beijing, GQwn left home and moved to the US by herself at the age of 15.
In the US, with her new found freedom and artistic curiosity, GQwn avidly explored a vast variety of music genres previously unfamiliar and unavailable to her. This was a critical refresh in her relationship with music, as she was able to approach new genres of music holistically without preconceived notions or bias. Because of this experience, GQwn believes the power/responsibilities of a DJ is in her ability to connect and move people emotionally, regardless of genres.
