In 1979, a group of concerned citizens in Ourense established the first ADEGA delegation. The problem of pollution was already affecting the city. They took the initiative to establish a local ADEGA and reorganized it in 2003. Today, it is one of the biggest environmental associations in Spain. Its mission is to protect the environment by educating people on the importance of environmental protection. Despite its small size, the ADEGA Ourense has a strong presence in the town..
