Funk Me Radio is back.

For the first episode back, we're moving through the 1970s without paying much attention to borders or genre. Jazz-funk, reggae, soul, funk, and free jazz move from Detroit to East Africa, Kingston, Lagos, Philadelphia and beyond.

Ronnie Foster opens the hour with Mystic Brew, followed by Black Savage, Freddie McKay, Lonnie Liston Smith, Heatwave, Geraldo Pino, Curtis Mayfield, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, Fatback Band, The Heptones, Roy Ayers and more.

The idea behind Funk Me Radio has always been simple: follow the music wherever it goes and listen for the connections between records that might not normally be placed beside each other.
