DJ FAHEEM, was born Frank W. Mack Jr. and raised in Newark, NJ, the birth place of the world famous Club Zanzibar. He grew up five minutes away from ‘Zanz’; the name that was given to the infamous club by those familiar with it. Thinking back, he remembers it as being the ‘stomping grounds’ before he was old enough to get in. He says reflectively, “When I was about ten years old, my older cousin, Super Sal, who was about 5 years older than me had two turntables, which I knew as record players. And he had this black box between them, which was a Numark Mixer. But, I really didn’t pay that much attention to it because I was there to play Atari with his younger brother.” He laughs, “That’s why I used to spend the weekend at their house. We played those games all night.”
