I'm an ardent producer of Dubstep and Wonky hip hop Instrumentals. But, when it comes to mixing I like to span the genres with a stimulus bpm in mind. The tempo of my mix is decided through consideration of the most modern style of music applicable to my taste at any given time and the most common bpm that the genre retains. I find that this method constantly surprises my own preconceptions of what can be mixed together seamlessly and work for an audience.
