Enrico Piazza, aka Junior Rico, was born in 1981 in Syracuse but he spent most of his life in Ragusa, Sicily. Junior Rico is one of the founders of the sicilian reggae sound system scene and one of the most appreciated “old school” dancehall reggae selectors in his region. His style is characterized by a careful preparation of the selections. This, along with microphone speeches, turns out to be captivating, never ordinary and often irreverent. His performances go from the classics of Jamaican music (ska, rocksteady, roots, rub a dub and digital) to the sounds of early ’90s ragga (oldies ragga / Bogle / Biltmore), the fresh bashment and in some cases even the American and Italian milestones of rap and hip-hop. Record collector since the age of 11 (at first only hip-hop), at 14 Junior received as gift a couple of Technics turntables, and began to entertain parties with friends: at 18 his fully “conversion” reggae music and the awareness that music is his greatest passion...
