Ed Honu's Hawaiian Shave Ice literally began as a dream! It was a gift and a great idea and we are chasing it! Ed stands for Emma and Doreen. Honu (pronounced Hawnooo) is the Hawaiian name for the green turtle that led the Samoans to find the Hawaiian islands. Going to Hawaii twice by chance, Doreen wondered why she was there. Once back in NSB, she had a dream and shared it with her friend and step-sister Emma. Emma who is constantly encouraging Doreen and her family members to treat their bodies well had tried it once on Cooper Street. Miissing Doreen in the mix, she chose to close it.Believing in each other and the idea in the dream, the perfect partnership led them to start this wonderful journey. Emma and Doreen were no longer satisfied with the idea of dyes and refined sugar being given to people as a treat.
