Bon Ton Key Club is the music of Rich Dickson, who has performed many styles and venues of music over the decades, including rock, jazz, blues, c/w, and others. Performing the keyboard duties for The Control Boys, Backlash, Small Wonder, and other Northwest bands led to recording his own material in his small studio at home. Mixing performance elements from his past encounters and adding sampling and multiple instruments gives BTKC an unique sound.

Stylistic references mirror flashes of Thomas Dolby, Jimmy Smith, Jon Lord, Goldy McJohn, Gregg Rollie, Billy Currie, Greg Hawkes, and many other classic musicians that are the basis for the "outside the box" sound.
