Dopey-Opium & Eyez

Back in 1998, Dopey-Opium and Eyez took over the airwaves of Bloomsburg University’s (now Commonwealth University) student-run station, WBUQ 91.1 FM. Their shows, The Asylum and The Sideshow, carved out a darker corner of the dial—spinning industrial, goth, and techno that pulsed against the grain of the campus’ usual alt-rock vibe. Fueled by distortion, shadows, and late-night energy, their sets became cult listening for anyone craving something heavier and more atmospheric. What survives today is an archive of those raw broadcasts, captured on cassette by Eyez’s dad—gritty proof of a scene that thrived in the margins.
