Dj Wags, originally from Cape Town but now living in Johannesburg, has been djing at clubs around South Africa for the past 10 years.
In 2011 5fm went in search of a new, rising Ultimix@6 star Dj. Hundreds of mixes were sent through and after an intense on-air competition, Dj Wags was crowned the winner.
2012 was a phenomenal year for Dj Wags, which saw him play to adoring crowds across the country from Cape Town to Durban and even Zimbabwe and Mozambique. He also headlined Pinkie Fest, which attracted over 8000 people in August 2012.
In 2013 Dj Wags took up a residency on the 5fm breakfast show with Gareth Cliff, and his weekly ‘weekend baby’ mix had the whole of South Africa dancing in their cars every Friday morning. Dj Wags released his first compilation disc as part of Bump 33 in October 2013 and has now joined the highly successful Bump brand with more releases due in 2014.
