Space 9 (Giancarlo Castillo) is a Brooklyn-based music producer/DJ and instrumentalist from Lima, Peru. His first commercial release, OMG’s “Fingerprint Experience” (a hip-hop/electronic collaboration w/keyboardist Lekan and MC Mojeed). The EP received great reviews from music blogs and gave the band’s MC the opportunity to open for N*E*R*D (led by Pharrell Williams) at the acclaimed Highline Ballroom. After a few years in Brooklyn and inspired by some of his musical influences (J.Dilla, Questlove, Kaytradana, to name a few), Giancarlo decided to expand his versatilty by learning how to DJ, and starts this new journey by changing his artistic name to Space 9. As Space 9, he is currently performing DJ sets in the New York City area, and still collaborates on remixes and production with a wide range of artists and producers from all across the globe.
