Born in the Philippines and raised in Bay Area's San Jose, California, Glenn "DJ Pyro" Maniago first stumbled across DJing during his early years of high school. The art form quickly caught his interest after being inspired by various talented DJs who came straight out of Northern Cali like Mix Master Mike and the legendary DJ Qbert who were pioneers of turntablism in the early 90s. In 1998, the self-taught DJ picked up his first set of turntables and the rest was history.
A few years later, DJ Pyro, along with a few other childhood friends that included DJ Peanut, DJ Jeff, Pencil Wednesday and DJ Trens, formed the DJ crew known as "The Unit." Rockin' house parties in different parts of the Bay Area, this young group of DJs slowly began to gain a following of party goers and soon expanded to a full promotion/DJ group known as “EP” (Emphatic Productions).
