NDB 15

This set was first performed at Massive Selector’s 2015 Next Day Better event, held in San Francisco, CA, at which my cousin, Marky Enriquez, was hosting, and Oliver Wang, author of the ground-breaking book, "Legions of Boom: Filipino American DJ Crews in the San Francisco Bay Area", was presenting. I reached back and put together a set composed of tunes we rocked back in 1980 - 85. Elements of R&B, Hip Hop, New Wave, Latin Freestyle, Hi-NRG(Post Disco) and Electro. Back then, we didn’t care what genre a song belonged to…as long as the beat was decent and danceable.

I used turntables, a mixer, and Serato. I retained all the 'slight flaws' to keep it real...no post-edits!
Note: the 1st mix of ‘No Music’ by Skyy and Art of Noise’s ‘Beat Box’ - ‘No Music’ has a live drummer - as opposed to the drum machine used in ‘Beat Box’ - so I had to ‘ride’ the pitch control due to the tempo variances of the live drummer. Yeah…what us True-School DJ’s had to do to keep the mix smooth...
