Joshua Duerksen, better known as DJ JD, grew up in the Mid-West and California, developing a love for various music genres like Classic Rock, Country, Hip Hop, and 90's Dance. He believes in the universality of good music across genres.

Post-high school, JD served in the U.S. Navy for ten years, a period during which he met influential DJs in Norfolk, Virginia. These mentors taught him the intricacies of DJing. While not on deployment, JD polished his DJ skills, working in clubs, mobile settings, and dive bars.

After his naval stint, JD moved to Idaho and established a mobile DJ business, focusing on weddings, parties, and school events. In 2009, he joined XMiX DJ Music Pool as a video editor, reworking music videos to align with XMiX's remixes, aiding Video DJs in their performances. This role improved his audio editing skills, leading him to produce edits and remixes used in country mix shows globally.
