Dj-Funkywax started to develop the passion for DJing and rocking the crowds at the age of 12 when he started going to block parties organized by “The Funk Show” dj crew. This crew organized block parties on weekend nights in the neighborhoods of south São Paulo, Brazil. Such parties brought together the neighborhood’s B-boys, Graffiti crews, DJs and a crowd of teenagers who loved to party. The “The Funk Show” DJs spun Hip hop, funk, garage and Underground tracks that were popular in the early 90’s.This selection of genres and the scratching of the records caught his attention during these parties and the admiration for DJs started to grow.
He was part of a B-Boy dance crew and used to go to these block parties to show off the new moves with his crew on weekend nights. It didn’t take long to realize that what brought the people to such parties was the great music and energy controlled by the DJs.
