Not every DJ can claim to have been around name-brand artists since childhood, or to have absorbed reggae music and culture from infancy. DJ Felix, son of reggae journalist John Masouri, can although it was a trip to Kingston in 1997 and visits to studios like Big Ship, Penthouse, Mixing Lab and Anchor that awakened his desire to get involved and make his own contribution to the music he loves.

Inspired by Luciano and encouraged by the late Fatis Burrell, he began DJing at a night called Strictly Reggae, held at the Volk’s on Brighton seafront every Monday. Years later and Strictly Reggae is the South East’s longest running reggae night. It was there he teamed with sing-jay / MC Culture B and founded Natural Elements; a popular pairing that played in and around Brighton and opened for visiting acts like Toots & The Maytals, Freddie McGregor, Maxi Priest and the Wailers.

Felix is now the selector for the world famous soundsystem 'Sir Coxsone'
