For more than two decades DJ Diaz has been part of Austria’s underground bass music culture as a selector, promoter, host and soundsystem operator.
Based in Salzburg and active since the early 2000s, his roots lie in Reggae and Dub, later expanding into Ragga Jungle, Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Grime, Juke, Funk, Soul and other bass-driven underground styles.
In 2020 this journey evolved into SUBSISTENCE Soundsystem — a custom-built heavyweight rig operated together with King Cone a.k.a. Dubdellic, dedicated to handcrafted sound, physical bass and community-driven sessions.
Over the years Diaz has hosted and curated countless dances, club nights and underground events in Austria and abroad, connecting classic Roots traditions, UK Steppers and contemporary bass culture.
SUBSISTENCE stands for DIY culture, independent music and real spaces for exchange beyond commercial trends.
