Kiu Coates (DJ Dialogical) started DJing in 1996 on pirate radio stations in London. Regular travels to Brazil inspired him to produce Brazilian Beatz, a party in Bristol that had over 400 people showing up every time, the Brazilian Beatz Podcast, which has over 1.5 Million listens, DJing at WOMAD festival and opening the concerts of artists like Seu Jorge and Amadou and Mariam.
In 2011 he moved to Rio de Janeiro, taught yoga and led workshops on listening and dialogue. During this time he immersed himself in the Brazilian Music scene.
His speciality is entering into a genuine musical dialogue with the crowd that spans tropical disco - afro-brazilian, cumbia, afrobeat, reggae - ass shakin world bass - dancehall, baile funk, ethnic house, tribal beats - afro-american classics - funk, swing and hip hop. He is currently living between London, Lisbon and Bahia, Brasil.
