I've been DJing on and off since 2006, when one of my close friends bought a big box of DnB and a pair of shoddy Numark TT1610's.
Got really into bashing out all the stock records and learned the skills of beatmatching and progressive mixing this way, not to mention a strong taste for DnB and jungle, gradually moving away from hip hop.
In the same year, I was getting into my breaks and dubstep and started to later broaden my mixes to those genres, starting to grow tired of just mixing one type of music.
Eventually started to mash these genres together with the classic household tunes we all know and love. I try to keep the sound varied and unpredictable, keeping the listener on their toes and having that WOW impact when a big, well known tune comes in.

And the name Smetana came from an in-joke about my Russian nationality. It's the name of a famous Russian condiment that tastes like sour cream. You should try it, 'IT'S NIIIIICE!'
