a Music Theorist without practice is just theory
Defiance started on July 4, 2006 as an annual honorarium to fallen soldiers, though not every Defiance makes it to public release. Initially played with amateur fireworks as a backdrop, I declared the combination as "the closest you can get to the sounds of a war zone without being a target. How industrial was made to be heard."
A classicly-trained musician and student of music theory, I started spinning Industrial in 1996, one of the few female industrial DJs at the time (if not only). I have since played numerous cities, at festivals and created dozens of remixes (and mixes) across numerous genres, though Industrial and its many variants continue to be my first love. I regard myself to be an Industrial Matriarch, for multiple reasons. Its more than music -- its a way of life.
