D. Tzanis was born in Heraklion, Crete, in 1953. He already exhibited his artistic work in 14 solo exhibitions. For the year 2014 he is preparing the "Unsmiling body" exhibition, to be held in Athens.
Major exhibitions include: "Garage", "Transit", "Stasis" in the gallery "Ariadne", "Lazarakia" at Praxis in Heraklion, "Free society" in the Thessaloniki Hall, "Tell me where you are..." in the Mylonogiannaki gallery in Chania. He has taken part in more than 50 group exhibitions in Greece and Italy. In the exhibition Touch 2006 he received the third prize with the work "Searching", and in 2009 he won the second prize with the work "Rhythm". His works are in private collections in Greece, Netherlands and Germany.
