#techLA the first technology and innovation conference put on by our Mayor, Eric Garcetti, at Los Angeles City Hall. It included a Tech Fair, Jobs Fair, different conference tracks, and even a hackathon. The event was also tied to the launch of a new city website, data.lacity.org that’s filled with data on the number of stray animals, water usage, a calendar of city-sponsored events, graffiti clean-up, bicycle lanes and other services

We have a pretty vibrant tech community: Nationbuilder, Hulu, and Snapchat are all based in Los Angeles, but we also have, JPL, SpaceX and our great universities: Caltech, UCLA, USC. Let us not forget the first signal on the ARPAnet was sent from UCLA to Stanford.

Guests include: Mike Bonin - from the11th District of the Los Angeles City Council, Cynthia Erenas - winner of last years HackforLA, Brian Forde - the senior advisor to the CTO of the White House, and some students competing in this years hackathon.
