Decampi is a moniker used by John Pence to create (and DJ) an eclectic mix of genres such as downtempo, hip/hop, house, and left-field electronic music. Big inspiration comes from prolific artists such as Bibio, Thievery Corporation, Boards of Canda, Tycho, Dabrye, Tommy Guerrero, Metamatics, Bitstream, etc.

Pence started his DJ journey by spinning vinyl out live to open shows with his bandmates in Roanoke-based surf rock, exotica dance band, Cinémathèque, in which he also plays keys in. He ventured out on his own to DJ a variety gigs, typically spinning funk, soul, and downtempo for casual gigs, and perhaps more house, disco, and left-field tracks for special events. Pence parses through record crates to find the perfect music to bring the best vibes to the party.

With an infinite ways to engage in music... the grand total of possibilities are endless!
