Musician and teacher. Dawn Burns has been singer all her life. Her vocal style is firmly rooted in the soul, jazz and gospel traditions. Dawn has recorded with the West Angeles Church of God in Christ Mass Choir and Norman Hutchins with Kurt Carr as musical director. Her stylistic range is expressed in performances with Mike Struwin's Rootsdown Band, Darryl Buchanan's soulful Motown/R&B ensembles, Marcus Robinson, Babylon Sneakers (covering the music of Steely Dan) and Fillmore's Ladder, a rock-oriented jam band. She has performed with great musicians: Gladys Knight, Bryan Lubeck, Leo Nocentelli and Shanice and has worked with producers including Dave Carlock, Ron Wynans and David Foster.
Dawn’s band always has laid back urban,soulful jazz grooves – her primary influences are Sade, Erykah Badu and Ella Fitzgerald. She brings flavor and a peaceful vibe to every musical experience, always working with top-level musicians in the region.
