Ctrl Freaks began as the brainchild of two b-boys, Foxx Boogie and Tha Boogie Bandit. Tha Boogie Bandit spent the summer of 2008 in Korea where he discovered the rave scene and fell in love with house music. After coming back to Philly from Korea, he teamed up with Foxx Boogie who was already creating a name for himself as a hip-hop and funk DJ. Foxx wanted to tap into his love for electronic music as well. With the desire to embrace new DJ technology in the form of controllers, they created Ctrl Freaks and rose to humble popularity throughout Philly spinning for the APAHW Fashion Show and America’s Video Game Expo. Unfortunately, Tha Boogie Bandit moved to LA and then to Japan while Foxx stayed in Philly. In 2011, they reunited for a Japan Tour and played a packed show at Club Block and a huge beach party in Kamakura. With over 100,000 subscribers on their Ctrl Freaks podcast and featured as a guest mix on EDM site Dancing Astronaut, Ctrl Freaks is poised to make an impact on EDM.
