David Ireland
Creekside Bio:
David Ireland and Mike Kuykendall met in 1991.
Mike was raised in Kansas and left home when he was 16, in 1970. He joined the Navy and became a Navy Seal. He has memories of competing in the Battle of the Band on warships in Vietnam. After his service he then went to school and became a systems analysis working at companies all over America. He started playing guitar at 13, and was taught by his father with his father’s guitar. That is the same guitar that Mike and David started Creekside with.
David Ireland was raised in Willow Glen in San Jose, California. He was influenced by his musician brother at 13 years old. He would go see his then 15 year old brother play live at Willow Street Park. “What a rush” he said.
At 13, David went down to Stevens Music in downtown Willow Glen to take guitar lessons and he didn’t go back after the first lesson because the instructor wouldn’t allow him to strum a electric guitar
