Claire Mansfield

London, United Kingdom

Veteran – some might say vintage – rock presenter Claire Mansfield cut her broadcasting teeth co-founding London’s biggest pirate rock radio station Rock-FM in the 80’s. The station championed new, unsigned bands, and was instrumental in breaking artists like the Lightning Seeds. Claire presented shows for most of London’s….ahem…unofficial rock stations including Raiders FM, spearheading the rise of female DJ’s in the then stubbornly patriarchal world of rock pirates. A prominent and vocal campaigner for a dedicated legal UK rock station, Claire worked on several community radio licence campaigns as well as co-organising the British Reggae Industry Awards with the late, much-missed Tony Williams. In the early noughties she re-joined Raiders Broadcast, an early adopter of internet radio, as Programme Controller. Claire presents two shows on Raiders, including the Nightcap which showcases contemporary indie. She continues to misbehave.
