Here is another one of my mixes. It's the fifth, 'official', mix I put to tape, recorded in the first half of 1997.
I'd say this is the first of my mixes that is truly my own. By that I mean that the track selection is not influenced by clubs or other DJs from that time, but are all pretty much hand picked by me, mostly from Eastern Bloc. There may be the odd one in there that I first heard in The Oribit. As such, this mix set the tone for pretty much everything I did after it. Even so, this isn't one of my favourites.
From a technical standpoint I'd say it's pretty good, but the mixes are a bit cold and clinical. There's not much variety in mixing technique or musical selection. I also leave tracks in for too long, so there isn't much energy. Maybe I'm being overly critical; this was the first 100% Techno mix I put to tape, and was still finding my own style.
So, enjoy 90 minutes or so of Techno from or prior to 1997.
