DJ Che’ Don’t Play grew up in the North Ward Section of the amazing Brick City (Newark, NJ), where his love for music started to blossom when he was just a kid. Even though he didn’t have turntables and a mixer, he had a stereo and a dial, and he spent countless hours switching stations to discover what the music world had to offer. This habit eventually led him to sample his mother’s vinyl LP’s (mostly Rock, Pop, and New Wave) during his early teens. A few years later, he started collecting music, recording late-night mix shows, and discovering his new passion for DJing.
Che’s dream of becoming a DJ really took off during his first two years at Rutgers University, New Brunswick. After seeing the party scene and watching the amazing talent of local DJs like The Mob, Todd Gardner, Don Juan, and Supreme, he knew this was what he wanted to do. After that, he really honed his skills, dove deeper into the music scene, and started playing at different spots around NJ, NY, and PA.
