Agadir, Morocco

My journey with music began in the 90s, in the passenger seat of my father’s car, surrounded by the sounds of Jil Jilala, Izenzaren, and classic Syrian and Lebanese music. The cassette was the soundtrack of my childhood—and at six, my father taught me the art of making mixtapes.

After a digital detour into MP3s, Rock, and Metal, I rediscovered my childhood tapes and my mother’s old Walkman in 2014. The warmth and memories of those recordings brought me back to the cassette world.

By 2018, I began collecting and documenting Moroccan cassette culture, determined to preserve a musical heritage at risk of disappearing. Returning to Agadir in 2022 connected me with collectors and veterans who helped deepen this journey.

Today, Cassetta Maroc combines my passion for Moroccan music, video editing, and digital archiving to bridge the analog past with the digital future—and keep these stories spinning for the next generation.
