Mild mannered Barry Kirk decided to undertake a most wacky and wonderful record charity attempt in September 11 - 15th 1986 at the Aberavon Beach Hotel for a one hundred hour 'Bath of Baked Bean' stunt in aid of Everybody's Gateway Club in Port Talbot. With the aid of haricot adjudicator, Mike Bokko, we both managed to stay awake for the entire duration and with the help of local businesses and companies, raised over £1,500 for a mini-bus appeal.

Moreover, the baked bean seed had 'bean' well and truly sown, and the rest is basically haricot history when of all 'saucy' things, Barry decided to change his name by deed poll on May 1991 to that of 'Captain Beany'!

After a few tweeks with various costume changes and additional superhero extras, this baked crusader has blown from strength to strength and has totally devoted his mission on Planet Earth - To save human beans for the beanyfit for mankind!
