Giovanni Calemma has started travelling and collecting music from a very young age: from post punk to synth pop in the early 80s, his travelling took him to Ibiza -where he listened to the repetitive beats of Acid House for the first time in 1988 -and to London and Amsterdam’s clubs in the early 1990s.
In his native Naples he has been the co-founder of the United Tribes movement
Between 1992 and 1994, United Tribes marked an evolutionary step in the music scene and defined a new aesthetics in visual communication; it represented Naples as a creative music production and artistic centre at the same level of other centres such as Detroit, Berlin and London.
Giovanni moved to London in 1994 and worked extensively with photography, media and music.
His experience in music and visual research has informed the promotion of new and more recent events such as the 80 A.D.A.M.S parties in Berlin and the more recent T.A.Z parties in London.
