So where did this young man come from? Let’s go back to the 80’s. 1980 to be exact. Living on the Southside of Chicago, growing up in one of the hottest neighborhoods of djs, he came from a family where music was in him. His father being a dj himself and his uncle being a drummer for a hot 70s group, opportunity was at hand. His brother being a “Deep House Head” used to party at the original WAREHOUSE and THE POWERPLANT, used to bring home cassette tapes and let him listen to them. One day he got up the nerve to travel down the street and ask a well known DJ by the name of Steve Hurley can he teach him? Being the person that he is, Steve said yes. Knowing his situation, Brett eventually knew Steve couldn’t give him the attention he wanted to get “ON” so he linked up with another Chicago giant, Eric E.T. Taylor, who took him under his wing and taught him everything he knows about the trade. He eventually got bookings at Sauer’s, Hero's, La Mirage, just to name a few.
