Brent Colby - a native Montrealer - has been interested in Reggae music since his early teens. He grew up in a neighbourhood with many musicians and a high immigrant population from the West Indies. Frequently, he attended dances where Reggae music was played. His friend Wayne Chen's brother-in-law, Prince Patrick, was a selector at some of these dances. Brent and Wayne would listen to his records and try to sing on top of them. Influenced by Scientist's and Papa Tad's record "Allied Dub Selection", they tried to play Reggae music with friends.
Following this period, Brent started his first band "The Aggrevators". They played their first show at the West Indian Church in the West Island. Brent was the lead vocalist and Buntin played bass. The audience was excited and l
