B-MOL is the techno project of Igor Molina, working out of Almere in the Netherlands. The name is the flat — mol in Dutch, bemol in Spanish — a note bent down a semitone and left there.
He started in the mid-2000s on a pair of Technics SL-1200 MK2s, learning to beatmatch on trance records at a point when Dutch DJs were defining that sound for the rest of the world. Then it stopped — a move to Amsterdam, a career in software. The turntables went. The records didn’t.
In 2022 he started again — digital now, and in a harder register. Raw techno with a hypnotic, dub-leaning core: long loops, slow pressure, little melody. Funk, disco and house still surface when a room asks for them — a reflex built from playing to people who didn’t come for the music, and holding them anyway.
