Artist & DJ, Black Venus, is a renaissance, drawing inspiration from artists like Josephine Baker and Audre Lorde, who allowed no limits to their creative expression. Using poetry, movement, and music, Black Venus blurs the boundaries between art and form to center their life experience as a born & raised Bostonian who is queer, black, and gender nonconforming. Their work is deeply introspective and strives to challenge common sense knowledge. They find purpose and fulfillment when using various art forms as tools for education, healing, and liberation.
