She recorded "Let the Sandman wait" in Nashville in 1988 with producer Vern Pratt. It climbed up the Cashbox charts to the top 100 chart. She was recording under Betty Kean at that time, previous to her marriage to Gary Overstreet and changing her name to Betty Overstreet.

She won Best song awards from Akademia Music awards for two of her songs in 2016. " You came right back" and " I dreamed I walked along with Jesus".
