Benks (Ez Boy) can be described as enthusiastic, optimistic and easy going. This artiste, named Kemar Harrison and born to parents Maxine Gardner and Linval --- who is also an active reggae recording artiste, on April 5, 1987, in Islington, St Mary, developed a deep affection for music after hearing tracks by dancehall moguls Bounty Killer and Buju Banton.

As a boy Benks would always be heard singing songs from his favorite artistes such as Bob Marley, Beres Hammond, Eminem, Capleton, Buju Banton, while doing chores around the house.
In 1995, Benks moved to Waterhouse, in Kingston after attending Roadside Basic School and Hillside Primary respectively.
