Cathleen Schandelmeier-Bartels recently completed a Master of Arts degree in New Media Journalism from Full Sail University. She also has a Master of Arts in Teaching from Northeastern Illinois University where she also received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre from their University without Walls Program. Cathleen is best known as the founder of https://PoetryinChicago.vision Chicago's Poetry News Source as well as being founder & host of The Beach Poets which she founded in 1990. The Beach Poets now runs on Loyola Beach on Sundays during the summer, and features a different poet every week. Cathleen had the privilege of serving as Station Manager of WZRD Chicago, 88.3 FM from 2011-2012. Her radio show runs every Saturday of the month from 11am-2 pm CST. She was named an "Outstanding Leader in Peace" by the Peace Museum in 1994, and earned a "Certificate of Leadership in Racial Justice" YWCA in 1994.
