I am a freelance photojournalist based in Kolkata, India. I started my career as an advertising photographer and have had worked with reputed advertising agencies, fashion designers, graphic designers and NGOs. From the very beginning, I was more interested in street photography; which later brought me to photojournalism. I started my career in photojournalism as a freelance in The Times of India. I have worked as the chief photographer and assignment director for EyePress photo agency based in Hong Kong. Presently I work as a freelance photojournalist for newspapers, magazines and NGOs. Presently me and my works are represented by Sipa Press (World market), Landov Llc (North American market).
In 2003, I have received the National Media Fellowship from the National Foundation for India for my long term work on Indian Coal Miners. In 2006 I won the B. Bangoor Endowment Fellowship for my work on Indian Sex workers. I was awarded with the New America Media Award in photojournalism sect
