Sometimes you just want the familiarity of a persistent tresillo in your DJ sets (both beginner and basics friendly). Other times you want to achieve meditative transcendence through four hours of neo-zouk. Maybe you just want to chill-step out to a Takeshi Galaxy special. Or maybe one with classic Portuguese ballads helping you daydream about dancing on the beaches at ZoukMX. Or fuck sets - maybe you just like Spotify playlists. This set is definitely NOT that set.
This set was played live in Los Angeles at a fully vaccinated social. It’s my response to my own post a few days ago about improvisation and choreography. I chose the order live (improvisation) and used the order to meticulously re-craft (choreography) the set in Ableton Live, as a practical self-critique to my live set. It’s a wild one. It made me feel things, and I hope it makes you feel things too.
