I love music of all types. I first became aware of the power of music (like so many of my generation) with the Beatles. As music progressed, it didn't take me long to realize that I was particularly attracted to the electric guitar (which I learned to play). The sound of live music hooked me for life. I'm fortunate to have come of age (musically) during a time when the cultural importance of music exploded and so many musical genres evolved; many exerting a powerful influence on my consciousness. My tastes are wide ranging and very eclectic, but if I had to break it down I'd say that I'm turned on by music with strong percussion, electronic (or at the least, amplified) instrumentation, generally melodic vocals (if present), and an overall ability to be exciting and emotionally evocative (or at least convey a mood, set up some kind of ambience, or produce a feeling when I listen to it). I'm turned off by bland, predictable, or formulaic music (eg commercial pop) which I find BORING!
