In 2012, Alfred was unexpectedly diagnosed with stage four advanced metastatic prostate cancer. Since then, he has become the voice of hope, inspiration and motivation for victims of this deadly disease that disproportionately affects black men. He uses his experience to engage with different cultures and ethnic groups. He hopes to inform and influence people with the two books he has written: 'Invincibility in the Face of Prostate Cancer" and "Coming out the other side and Motivated to Inspire", and the documentary he scripted "A Survivor Amongst Survivors" aired on Sky TV in 2021.
Since his diagnosis, Alfred has dedicated himself to raising awareness of the importance of research through patient advocacy, patient involvement and media volunteering.
