A Montréaler who writes, performs & produces avant-pop, ambient & electroacoustic music. Has DJed under the name DJPollySix since 1995, both on radio & in various venues around Montreal and Toronto (Roy Bar, Laika, Casa del Popolo, The Beaver, O Patro Vys, Blizzarts, Cameron House, Green Room, the MiMi awards, Moondata Lab Projects). As a musician she was lead singer & synth player for Marlowe (95-05) and is now solo as Alex Ookpik. Also guested with Raising the Fawn, and Eiyn Sof; produced & mixed for Clara Engel, and Jordi Rosen; and composed music for “Stranger", a play by Praxis Theatre. Her pieces "Rust" and "Hot Water" have been featured in Vox Novus's 60x60--presenting in Montreal, NYC, Berlin, and Italy. A recent honour was being asked to make a mixtape for Mitamine Lab (http://mitaminelab.com), also taking part in OraMIX--a tribute to Daphne Oram.
